Poster of the 1901 edition of Paris-Brest-Paris, reprint, format 50x79cm, 250gr paper, offset print. With the original`s patina.
The French illustrator Charles Brun depicted Maurice Garin who won the legendary Paris-Brest-Paris in 1901. Garin rode the 1200k from Paris to Brest and back in only 52 hours. With only one gear and an endless row of hills to climb. The first edition of PBP as it is called today (nowadays its the most renown long distance event for cyclists in the world) took place in 1891. Given its inhumane nature the organizers thought it was a good idea to host Paris-BrestParis only once in a decade.
